Current Trends in Media Rooms

When media rooms first became popular a decade or two ago they were large dark theater-like rooms, typically upstairs. As things evolved in recent years, builders began to realize that people don’t want to get food from downstairs, climb up stairs and go past kids bedrooms to the back of the house to watch a movie or an event.

Current trends are to locate the room downstairs and to make it a much more casual and flexible area. Since people are no longer limited to using the large projector televisions anymore, the new LED big screen technology TV’s work very well in lighted rooms. This allows windows in the room and seating that is much more casual and flexible, permitting the room to also be used as a game room or workout room.
