Michael Dehn discusses a warning from the Federal Trade Commission regarding phishing scams intended to steal identity and funds for mortgage closing costs. Scammers are getting very creative in posing as legitimate title companies with last minute instruction changes to redirect where to wire funds for closings. Since the average American adult moves every 7 years, chances are you or family/friends could be exposed in the near future. Scammers are getting very sophisticated and recent hacks of Equifax makes most US households at risk. Never click on any link on emails from people or sources you don’t know (this is how malware gets on your computer) and call your title company or broker if something seems suspect. Don’t be a victim!
